Haggetts Pond & Rail Trail
Features:
Abandoned rail trail provides an unpaved but hard-packed walking, jogging, and mountain biking trail, suitable for rollator walkers, adapted and tandem bikes, therapeutic horses, some wheelchairs, and for the vision impaired. All non-motorized users are permitted to enter the trail under or around the vehicle gate at Haggett's Pond Road. We are aware that this gate and the entrance pose significant barriers for many wheelchair users. NOTE: Planning is underway for the paving of this trail plus additional parking and safety features. More information about the project may be obtained at Haggetts Pond Rail Trail | Andover, MA (andoverma.gov) As these plans have become a point of contention in the community, Andover Trails remains supportive of efforts to help all persons enjoy this trail. We will continue to advocate for plans that meet the objective of easing access for people with all kinds of disabilities and, at the same time, conforming to state and local wetlands regulations, and "treading lightly" on the natural environment. Please read our full statement on the project. Permitted Uses: Walking, bicycling, easy X-country skiing, horses, and fishing. Size: 59 acres Location: High Plain Road (between Route 93 and Route 495 overpasses); Haggetts Pond Road; Route 133; Bellevue Road Parking: High Plain Road; Haggetts Pond Road |
