2022 Paddle Your ShawsheenApril through October 2022 Andover Trails has been given the go-ahead by Andover's Recreation and Conservation Departments again this year to make it easy for you to enjoy paddling on the Shawsheen River - one of Andover’s close-to-home outdoor treasurers. Free Paddling Days anticipated to return for Summer 2022! Andover Trails hopes to hold Free Paddling Days on certain Sunday afternoons during paddling season on a first come, first serve basis. Canoes, kayaks, paddles, life vests, and some guidance will be provided by volunteers to help families enjoy easy flatwater paddling on selected sections of the River. Check this website for dates, times, and locations as the program will vary depending on weather conditions and volunteer availability. Free Boat Storage The boat storage program is again free of charge with an easy application process. Space is limited, so sign up soon! A waiting list will be established when all available stickers are gone. Racks are located at Shawsheen Pines (on Lowell Junction Road), at the Abbot Bridge Drive canoe launch site, and at the end of Dale Street in Ballardvale. Users must provide their own lock and cables, and neither Andover Trails nor the Town of Andover is responsible for theft or damage.
