Haggetts Pond & Rail Trail
Features:
Abandoned rail trail provides an unpaved but hard-packed walking, jogging, and mountain biking trail, suitable for rollator walkers, therapeutic horses, some wheelchairs, and for the vision impaired. All non-motorized users are permitted to enter the trail under or around the vehicle gate at Haggett's Pond Road. We are aware that this gate and the entrance pose significant barriers for many wheelchair users. NOTE: Planning is underway for substantial accessibility improvements to this property plus additional parking and safety features. More information about the project may be obtained at Haggetts Pond Rail Trail | Andover, MA (andoverma.gov) As these plans have become a point of contention in the community, Andover Trails remains supportive of efforts to help all persons enjoy the trail. We will continue to advocate for plans to meet the objective of easing access especially for users of wheelchairs, while conforming to state and local wetlands regulations, and "treading lightly" on the natural environment. Please read our full statement on the project. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN TRAIL ACCESSIBILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY?
