Merrimack River Trail Maintenance

November, 2009: In conjunction with Andover Conservation Commission and the Clean River Project , we removed a failing bridge on the Merrimack River Trail. Over time, the cement supports had become undermined by the action of the river, causing the bridge to tilt and destabilize. A new bridge is scheduled to be installed in Spring, 2010 by the ATC and the Andover Cons Comm.

October, 2006. Tom Appleton lead a group of kids from Andover Youth Services in a project at the  Andover Wyndham Hotel entrance to the Merrimack River Trail. They installed 20 feet of hemlock planks on logs bridging a wet runoff area about 50 yards from the trailhead.

Additional bog bridging may be needed in this area in the future, but for now it was covered by some material found on site so it is passable.
